Let your actions define who you are, not your past.
I'm Simone, A worldwide published author and leading PTSD expert on PTSD and Service Dogs. I'm also a mother of 3 beautiful babies, U.S. Army Veteran, SA/IPV survivor, mental health advocate and dynamic public speaker.
I am a Military sexual trauma survivor.
I was assaulted in the Army and dealt with undiagnosed PTSD for year afterwards. I lived a life of self-loathing, avoidant behaviors, adrenalin seeking and flashbacks until I found therapy. Once diagnosed and learned that PTSD can be acquired from all forms of trauma such as domestic violence, sexual assault, gun violence and witnessing violence, I started exploring every avenue to find healing and recovery. My search led me to eventually have a service dog of my own, Gunner. My service dog granted me huge amounts of confidence I didn't have in public before. Gunner was the missing piece that put the healing puzzle together and brought all parts of my healing together to complete the journey. The combination of therapy, body work, nutrition/exercise, community involvement, sobriety and my service dog helped me find the solution I needed to enjoy living again. I wanted other survivors to feel the same empowerment. Thus, my idea for one of the first nonprofits in the country to provide service dogs to Sexual assault survivors diagnosed with PTSD was born.
Service dogs can be life changing to persons with PTSD and especially Sexual Assault Survivors.
Gunner showed me the strength I had within myself the whole time. Now I make it my life's mission share my story about service dogs and encouragement others that PTSD is treatable.
Today I speak and write to other Survivors of PTSD and spread awareness over the less talked about forms of PTSD, such as from sexual assault or gun violence.
Healing and recovery is possible, never give up and stay strong❤️

My Story
I was sexually assaulted in the Army in 2007 by a fellow solider. I didn't receive proper healthcare or justice which led to me leaving the Army shortly after. I developed PTSD and lived years without being diagnosed. This created more trauma on top of the assault. Once diagnosed years later, I began my search for available therapies for PTSD. In 2017 I adopted my Service dog Gunner. He gave me so much freedom I wanted other survivors to feel the same and reach recovery milestones quicker. In 2017 I founded Service Dog Strong. One of the first ever nonprofits to pair service dogs with Sexual assault survivors. In 2025 PTSD and What Helped Me was released. It is another first-ever for the world, being a step-by-step guide written by a fellow PTSD survivor. I now am a global expert on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, mental health and service dogs. I am a mom of 3 spreading the message that PTSD is treatable. I love sharing my story and encouraging others to live a heathier life.
